Our 2011-2012 schedule is being arranged by our President Carmita Ortiz. Mailings are sent to members before each meeting at their home address or e-mail address with more details and RSVP info. Please note our Idea Exchange. Each meeting, we will spend 10 minutes sharing "Good News" ideas on the designated topic. Bring your ideas and hand-outs!

Elizabeth, Rm 406-- free parking in CPS lot on the corner of Ada and Fulton, approximately one block south of ETF. The parking entrance and CPS sign are located on the south side of Fulton! Program: Come and visit the new DLIS offices in ETF and connect with their 2011-12 programs, resources, services, and staff! The main DLIS phone number remains 773-553-6210. There was no DLIS "Back-to-School Orientation Day" this year, so our CTLA meeting can serve as a basic alternate. Come out and support our Department and professional network of CPS librarians. We need to support each other and stay organized around our mission critical school roles! A continental breakfast will be served. 2 CPDUs credit will be available.

He works a day job as a business reporter for Crain Communications Inc. He also was the founding editor of Masters Athlete magazine. Before that he was a newspaper reporter in Chicago and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. His freelance journalism has appeared in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, Salon.com, SI.com and Notre Dame Magazine. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two daughters.

Program: Guest author Paul Griffin! Paul began writing his first novel as he finished college, in 1988. That novel and many others went unpublished. Paul started working with at-risk, incarcerated and special needs teens in 1989, with a concentration in conflict resolution workshops aimed at stemming the spread of violence, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS among young adults. These days his workshops focus on helping young men and women tell their life stories as they reach out to counselors, judges, admissions officers and potential employers. Twenty years to the day after Paul graduated Dartmouth, Penguin/Dial released his “first” (twenty-fourth) novel Ten Mile River and then The Orange Houses a year later. Dial is publishing a third novel, Stay With Me, in the fall of 2011, a fourth, Burning Blue, a mystery, in 2012 and a fifth, tentatively a sci-fi romance, in 2013. Paul lives in Washington Heights, NYC with three dogs and one wife, documentary moviemaker Risa Morimoto. Check out his website for more details.
