Our 2010-2011 schedule is being arranged by our President Carolyn Brna. Mailings are sent to members before each meeting at their home address or e-mail address with more details and RSVP info. Please note our “Idea Exchange.” Each meeting, we will spend 10 minutes sharing "Good News" ideas on the designated topic. Bring your ideas and hand-outs!

SEPTEMBER, 2010

They represent 100+ publishers with a full range of fiction and non-fiction titles, including Spanish and bi-lingual titles. Books on display will be 2011 copyrights from Lerner, Scholastic, Candlewick, Random House, Crabtree, Harper Collins, Rourke, Capstone, Picture Window, Compass Point, Stone Arch, Gareth Stevens, Rosen, Little Brown, ABDO, Enslow, Child's World, Bellwether, Morgan Reynolds, Power Kids, Spotlight, Mason Crest, and many more.
Program: Full breakfast will be served along with a special presentation by children's/young adult/adult author Cynthea Liu. Based in Chicago with her husband and daughter, Cynthea has spoken to a many schools in Illinois and across the country. She has also been a guest speaker for national and regional conferences, including the recent ALA Conference in Washington, D. C. She is the author of Paris Pan Takes the Dare (Putnam), The Great Call of China (Speak), and her ©2011 What I Didn't Tell You (Putnam). Cynthea has also authored Writing for Children and Teens: A Crash Course (Pivotal). Cynthea is the founder of www.AuthorsNow.com, the largest collaboration of debut children’s and teen authors in the US, and the woman behind WritingforChildrenandTeens.com, a top ten Web site on the subject. 3 CPDUs credit will be available (provider #102634; category #13628–Educational Publishing), plus Free Books and Gifts with Author Signing!

Idea Exchange: Upper Grade Student Projects and Women’s History, plus the Olympics and ISATs.
Note: February is also our annual Penny Auction Month led by June Andalcio in honor of Lincoln and his birthday. The Penny Auction is our librarian version of a 'Swap-o-Rama' or ‘Rummage Sale’. You are asked to donate any unwanted "treasures" for raffle... and then seek out new "treasures" for pennies! Bring your coins (1 chance per penny) or bills (100 chances per dollar), etc.!  You will register with a number, buy tickets that you write your number on, and then place your tickets at items to win!  Tickets will be pulled starting at 11:00. The raffle earnings will be raffled off to an attendee (everyone gets one free chance)! Please look around for a few items on a shelf or in a drawer to bring in and pass on!  Everyone can leave a winner!
